• Where Is The Nelson County Veterans Park Located?

  The Veterans Park is located at 230 Plaza Drive in Bardstown, Kentucky,
  in front of the Nelson County Justice Center,
  and across the road from My Old Ky Home State Park.

• Can The Public Visit Veterans Park Now?

  Veterans Park is currently closed to the public
  due to ongoing construction work.

• What is the opening day date?

  Opening Day is planned for Summer 2025.

• What Is The Criteria To Qualify For Park Inscription?

  To qualify for inscription on the Black Granite Monument:

  • RESIDENCY

    1. The Veteran was born in Nelson County.

    2. The Veteran relocated to the County and currently resides here.

    3. The Veteran lived in Nelson County for a significant number of years.

  • MILITARY SERVICE

    • Proof of Service: DD214 – Discharge Papers – Veterans Driver’s License – vCard – Photos

  • There is no fee for this honor.

• How Can I Register For Inscriptions?

  You may register by completing the Registration Form available on bncvetpark.org.
  Proof of Service is required:
  A copy of the DD214 document, discharge document, Veterans Driver’s License, vCard, Cemetery Monument.

• Who can purchase an Inscribed Brick?

  All Veterans are eligible to be honored with an Inscribed Brick, regardless of location of birth or residence.  

• How do I purchase an Inscribed brick?

  The Inscribed Brick Order Form is available on
  bncvetpark.org under the heading DONATE.
  Print the Order Form, fill out the information required,
  mail form and check to address:

• What is the cost of a brick?

  The fee is to purchase a brick is $150.00. 

• What is the deadline to purchase a brick?

  If you want your Inscribed Brick placed on the Walkway of Honor for Opening Day, the order must be placed by May 31.
  Otherwise, there is no deadline.

• What qualifies a veteran to be honored in the Park.

  Veterans or families seeking inscription on the Black Granite Monument should be aware of the criteria involved. To qualify, the veteran must meet specific residency and military service requirements. Residency can be established if the veteran was born in Nelson County, moved to the county and currently resides there, or lived in Nelson County for a significant period. For military service, proof can be provided through various means such as a DD214 form, discharge papers, a veteran’s driver’s license, a vCard, or relevant photos. 

• Is there a fee to register to have a name inscribed on a monument?

  This distinguished honor does not require any fee provided it meets the required criteria

• What is the deadline for registration for the Monument Inscription??

  Unfortunately the deadline has passed at this time, as the deadline for the first inscriptions was on March 27th. 

• What happens if I miss the registration deadline?

  Thankfully inscriptions will be made once a year.The Registration Form for the second set of inscriptions
  is available on bncvetpark.org.
